The food was amazing. Great quality and taste. Fresh and colorful. Perfect texture. And the price was right. I liked the simple, clean feel to the atmosphere and appreciated the Hello Kitty toilet paper. 😉 I wish I lived in Illinois. I'd come back. My friend from North Aurora I tends to bring others back with her.
I'm so glad I finally tried this place out. Their squid stir fry is absolutely delicious, and so is their bibimbap bowl. The owners are always on-site and really attentive. The place has a good vibe, and I'd highly recommend checking it out.
A good decent Korean cuisine place. Very close to Amazon Fresh in the strip mall off 95th and 59th - so a good location as well.
I had beef Gumii bulgogi which is served with sesame seeds on top and served with a cup size rice, some broccoli, kimchi and a small section cut off of fried egg with some vegetables inside.
Tasted good, but I've had better at other places.
It definitely seems like a family-owned and run restaurant. Usual signs:
- Family kids work at the register.
- Personal belongings like purses, laptops, coffee or other kinds of things are in the hallway. Stuff they use to pass time when they are not working.
Don't get me wrong. They're great people and wonderful family like service so no issues there.
One odd thing:
They charged a separate tax for Naperville in addition to State tax 🤔
Btw, it took 18 minutes for the food to come out even though they were not that busy. Hopefully that's not usual.
The first thing you notice about this restaurant is how open and clean it is. You won't feel suspicious about the sanitation of the food served here.
I can't believe I've only tried this restaurant now. I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap: you can get this with beef, tofu, chicken, or seafood. I had it with the chicken. I asked for more vegetables and less rice as well and they were super accommodating!
I was pleasantly surprised at how colorful and cute the dish looked. It tasted super good too!! It was slightly oily and the rice didn't make a crust on the sides of the pot which I was a little disappointed about, but I think it might've been because I was impatient and stirred my dish.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. I will be back to have more bibimbap and try the soups too!
Woah, this place is good. Great service. The gumii sliders tasted the best but they're a little pricey. $8 and you only get two. The $8 kimchi fries were pretty good but not enough kimchi, and if you let them sit out too long the cheese cools and hardens making it difficult to pull the fries apart. The dolsat bibimbap looked very artistic and tasted better. It comes with some kimchi and cucumber sides as well as a cold omelette piece. They're drink selection isn't too great though.
This is my favorite Korean establishment in the area, period, and I have been to ALL of them. If you are craving authentic Korean food, this is your place. The food is cooked with care, and the preparation is not rushed. This is important if you value quality, so don’t come here if you want a meal in 5 minutes. The wait is 5-10 mins when not busy, and 15-30 at peak business. If it’s a long wait, they always let you know in advance, so go take a quick trip to Jewel or Amazon Fresh while you await an amazing meal. This is a smaller family restaurant, and if you are willing to be patient, the food is definitely worth the wait! The owner is polite and the establishment (including restroom) is spotlessly clean! I am surprised it took me 5 years of living here to know this place existed, as the name ‘Gumii’ is not easily recognized as Korean food, but better late than never! Very fortunate to have such delicious food and kind owners at this establishment.
The kimchi fries were ok, very mild kimchi flavour, lots of american cheese and mayo
I’ve eaten here a couple of times and every time I am so impressed by the quality of service and the beautiful presentation of the food! You can tell that the owners really care about their menu and work hard for the best customer experience. The prices are a little higher than your average quick service restaurant, but I think they’re worth it for the unique, made-with-care dishes!
